As Seen In

What you will learn

  • A greater sense of self-awareness and the opportunities this creates. A 30 page customized behavioural profile is included.

  • How to improve remote relationships with colleagues and customers. Better relations drive creativity, a skill we all need to develop now more than ever.

  • A framework to help coach teammates remotely (also helpful for client meetings)

  • How to better lead meetings and discussions and the power of Calibrated Storytelling

  • A method to understand different working styles across the globe and how to effectively adapt in order to achieve your career goals.

What this is not

  • A series of lectures. This is interactive.

  • Theory without real-world applications. It's easy to work in hypotheticals, but that's now what we're doing here.

  • Passive learning. Participants are expected to bring their own real-world challenges as working case studies.

  • One on one coaching. The classes are small (usually <10 people) to ensure everyone gets to participate.

  • A re-telling of the book. The book introduces a number of core global communication ideas. This course is designed to dig deeply into those concepts and apply them to real-world scenarios.

I've spent more than half of my post-college life outside of my home country - 16 years in Japan and a year in Australia. I wish I had this when I started on that journey. Sure, there are books about living within other cultures, managing and working with the [fill-in-the-blank-nationality], coping with culture shock, and communicating across cultures and geographies. But this stands out because it is utterly relatable, funny, engaging, and - at all times - practical.

The book completely encapsulates why a Western mindset and culture needs to be realigned when doing business with Asia and explains what is needed in a fun and easy read. The stories resonate because they are so true.

Thanks for the session today. Your personal stories were impactful & disarming & I found it to be one of the most elegant & provocative self reflection moments I’ve had in a long time.

Kyle has been a great coach and his expert counselling has really helped me work in different work cultures and new environments. In my opinion his speciality is to identify the need for training and then valuable insights to help one find one’s own tailor made solutions! I highly recommend his coaching sessions and expert guidance. It could be a life changer especially at a critical juncture in one’s career!

Shashi S.

The framework is helpful for coaching and mentoring, as well as for our own problem solving skills and personal growth. I wish someone had showed me this earlier in my career.

This latest session really opened my eyes to how I'm approaching things the wrong way. I've been managing people how I want to be managed, not the way they want to be managed. A huge help!

(what I found most helpful were the) Concrete steps to approach leading highly multi-cultural teams.

Course Curriculum

This course takes core leadership and communications training ideas and puts them into 2022 real-world applications. We all know that it's important to adjust how you manage people remotely, but how do you do it? What steps can you take to lead your teams and yourself through the rest of this year and whatever else the future brings? This is a five week course and here are the five core skills:

Your instructor

Kyle Hegarty has spent the last 16 years helping companies grow into overseas markets by helping people and teams communicate by cutting through the invisible cultural barriers that prevent remote teams from reaching their collaborative potential.

His first book, The Accidental Business Nomad: A Survival Guide for Working Across a Shrinking Planet shares practical research and data, and offers witty, lively stories of people and companies who have found themselves trying to work across an increasingly fragmented global working environment. Kyle highlights the expensive mistakes that everyone makes but nobody talks about - from volatile culture clashes to maddening communication breakdowns.
